Real Small Apartments. Real Silent Oil Heat. Real Foldable Racks.

Two arched racks that fold up when you don’t need them. Single LED dial. Slim 15" glossy black. Rolls between rooms.

You already own a heater. What you don’t own is a heater that’s slim enough to fit between the couch and the wall, folds its racks up when you’re not drying anything, and does not have an app.

Here is what actually differs about The Onyx Column.

4 Things We Care About

Two Curved Racks. Fold Up. Disappear.

Two curved black rack arms swing down and outward for drying a towel, mittens, or a hand-wash silk blouse. Push them back up and they arch over the top like carry handles. Extended when you need them, stowed when you don’t — not a fixed laundry rack forever bolted to the side of your heater.

Single LED Dial. Soft Blue Glow. No App.

One round matte-black knob with a soft blue LED ring that glows around it while the heater is on. A small red POWER indicator and flame icon above. Turn left for OFF, right past LOW / MED / HIGH. That is the whole interface. No app, no remote, no display to reset after a power outage.

check

15 Inches Wide. Fits Where the Others Don’t.

Narrower than the Cast, Ivory, Classic, and Laundry Columns — 15 inches wide, 10 inches deep, 27.5 inches tall. Slides behind a couch, next to a nightstand, into a small apartment corner. 18 pounds, lightest 1500W Column we ship.

money

Glossy Black. Actually Looks Intentional.

Glossy black steel cabinet, matching black arched racks, black base, black casters. In a room with dark furniture it disappears. In a room with light furniture it reads as a deliberate accent — not “the beige plastic thing the heater lives in.”

Built to Last, Not to Impress

Built for Small Rooms, Modern Furniture, and People Who Want the Heater to Disappear When It’s Not Doing a Job.

Glossy black steel fins with cool-touch outer housing. 600W / 900W / 1500W dial. Silent oil-filled convection. Two curved black arched racks that stow up like carry handles or extend down/out for drying. 4 small black casters, 18 pounds, slim 15" wide. Runs about 25 cents an hour on high.

Roll it into the room. Turn the dial to HIGH. Extend the rack if you need it. Fold it up when you don’t.

Plug In. Turn the Dial. That Is the Whole Setup.

Wheel it into the bedroom, bathroom, office corner, or apartment corner. Plug it in. Turn the single LED dial from OFF to LOW, MED, or HIGH. Blue ring glows around the dial to tell you it’s working. That is it — no installation, no fan noise, no app.

"15 inches wide. Actually fits between my sink cabinet and the wall."

"Brooklyn one-bedroom. Bathroom is 6 feet wide. I measured every heater on the market and this is the only 1500W one that fit next to my sink cabinet. Extended the rack for towel warming during my shower. Rolled it back to the bedroom at night, racks folded flat, LED dial glowing blue. It looks like it belongs there."

Amanda B.

"Silent enough for client Zoom calls. Blue LED ring is a nice touch."

"Corner desk in my 500 sq ft studio. Silent means silent — no client has ever mentioned background noise. The soft blue LED ring around the dial is a bonus — ambient light on the darker afternoons, but not intrusive. Racks stowed the entire time because I don’t use them daily. Which is the point."

Kenji T.
Seattle, WA
"Wet mittens on the racks by 4pm. Dry by breakfast. Racks fold back up."

"Colorado winter, two kids. Snow gear every day. Fold the racks down when the kids come in, drape wet mittens across each arch, they’re dry by breakfast. Fold the racks back up and the heater doesn’t look like a laundry rack anymore — it looks like a heater."

Only 1500W heater that fit my Brooklyn bathroom.

Brooklyn apartment bathroom is 6 feet wide. Every 1500W heater I looked at was 17 or 18 inches. This one is 15. It fits next to my sink cabinet with 2 inches to spare. Rack extended for towel warming. Rack folded up when I roll it out. Silent oil so no fan noise in a small room. Blue LED dial glow instead of a scary display.

Home office in a studio apartment. Silent means silent.

500 sq ft NYC studio. Desk in the corner. Every fan heater I’ve owned cycled on with a whoosh loud enough to be picked up by my laptop mic on client calls. This is oil-filled. No fan. Silent. The soft blue LED ring around the dial glows just enough to be pleasant — like ambient light. Racks stowed permanently because I don’t use them daily. The stowed position keeps the heater looking like furniture.

Mudroom hero. Two kids, wet mittens, dry by breakfast.

Denver winter. Kids age 5 and 8. Snow every week from November through March. Wet mittens, wet snow pants, wet knit hats every day. This heater sits in the mudroom. Fold the racks down when the kids come in, drape mittens and hats across the arches. Dry by breakfast. Fold the racks back up and it looks like a heater again.

18 pounds. My mother-in-law can roll it herself.

Lightest 1500W oil heater we’ve owned. My 76-year-old mother-in-law can push it from her bedroom to her sitting room by herself. Casters glide smooth on hardwood. Single dial control. She can operate the whole thing without me writing a manual. Blue LED ring tells her at a glance if it’s on.

Kill-a-Watt engineer check. LOW/MED/HIGH match the label.

Electrical engineer. Metered LOW at 605W, MED at 903W, HIGH at 1498W. Label says 600/900/1500. Within tolerance. Blue LED ring around the dial is a nice UI cue — you can see at a glance from across the room whether the heater is on. Better than a tiny power indicator LED hidden on the side.

Bedroom nightstand fit. Racks up. Glossy black looks intentional.

Guest bedroom. Fits perfectly beside the nightstand. Racks stowed up, arched over the top like carry handles. In a room with a black bed frame and dark furniture, the glossy black cabinet just disappears. Doesn’t look like a heater interrupting the aesthetic. Silent enough that a guest sleeping in the room forgets it’s there.

All six Columns use silent oil-filled convection. The Onyx is the slim glossy-black one with foldable racks. Here’s the family:

  • Cast Column ($199.95) — black, LED display + remote + 12H timer, casters, 1500W.
  • Ivory Column ($189.95) — white, two knobs, wavy fins, casters, 1500W.
  • Classic Column ($179.95) — white, one switch + one knob, flat fins, casters, 1500W.
  • Pocket Column ($139.95) — white, 700W, desk-sized, no casters.
  • Laundry Column ($239.95) — white, two knobs, casters, 1500W + racks + cup holder + humidifier.
  • Onyx Column ($179.95) — glossy black, single LED dial, casters, 1500W + slim 15" profile + foldable arched racks.

Pick the Onyx if you want a slim modern black heater with foldable racks that disappear when you don’t need them. Pick the Laundry if you want the drying rack PLUS cup holder + humidifier. Pick the Cast if you want a remote and a timer.

Two curved arched racks, one on each side of the top. Each rack fits about one item: one bath towel per side, or one pair of mittens per side, or one hand-wash blouse per side. Total capacity is small — this is a rack for the items you’d normally drape on the shower rod or the back of a chair, not a laundry-load drying rack.

The ring around the dial glows soft blue when the heater is powered on — you can see at a glance from across the room whether the heater is running. It is not adjustable brightness and does not indicate temperature setting. Turn the dial to OFF and the ring goes dark.

Glossy finishes do show fingerprints if you touch the cabinet a lot — wipe with a soft dry cloth. The cabinet is painted steel, not plastic, so light scratches from bumps are unlikely at normal use. If you have kids or pets that will constantly touch it, the Ivory or Classic Column (matte white) might hide handling marks better.

Like every 1500W heater on this site — do NOT leave it unattended overnight. Turn the dial to OFF before bed. Oil-filled radiators hold their heat for 20-30 minutes after the element cycles off, so the room stays warm even after you shut it down.

Yes — on a dry stable surface, away from the tub, shower, or sink. Do NOT let water splash on it. The ETL certification, double overheat shutoff, and tip-over shutoff make it safer in a damp environment than uncertified heaters — but keep it dry.

Every 1500-watt heater makes about the same peak heat. What differs about this one: two arched racks that fold up when you don’t need them, a single LED-illuminated dial with a soft blue ring, a slim 15-inch glossy-black cabinet that fits where wider heaters don’t, and silent oil convection with no fan and no glow. Plug it in tonight. Turn the dial to HIGH. Extend the racks if you need them, fold them up when you don’t. Protected by our 30-day return window.
