Will this warm the whole gazebo or covered patio?
Yes — hang it from the peak of the gazebo and the HaloRay 360™ twin halogen tubes throw instant radiant warmth across every seat at the table at once. Radiant infrared warms skin and surfaces directly like sunlight, so wind can't carry it away the way it carries propane heat. Hexagonal, round, or square gazebos up to about 12 feet across all work. For a larger pergola or long rectangular covered patio, add a second Halo over the far end of the seating area.
How is this different from a propane patio heater?
Propane heaters warm air, which the wind carries away. Infrared warms your skin directly, which the wind cannot carry away. That is why a hanging halogen halo works in a mild breeze where a propane heater is useless. Also: no refills, no tanks, no smell, no tipping hazard. Just hang it and plug it in.
Where should I hang it?
From a ceiling hook or eye-bolt rated for the 6-pound weight, in the ceiling of a covered structure: gazebo peak, pergola crossbeam, covered patio ceiling joist, screened porch beam. Minimum 11.8 inches from the ceiling above the pendant (heat dissipation), and minimum 5.9 feet from any wall (clearance). Adjust the drop height to your space using the 23-inch included chain.
Is it really waterproof?
IPX4 — splash-protected from every direction. Hang it under a covered structure (gazebo roof, pergola cover, patio ceiling) and it handles rain, snow, and wind-blown moisture year-round. The steel dome is powder-coated for rust protection and holds up through every season.
Can I hang it inside a garage or workshop?
Yes — many customers use it in workshops with an overhead beam. Hang it above your workbench and it warms you where you stand. Silent, no fan blowing sawdust around. Do not run it near solvents or flammable finishes.
How do I turn it on?
Pull the chain to turn it on and pull again to turn it off. No app, no remote batteries to die on the coldest night of the year.
How much does it cost to run?
About 25¢ an hour at the US average electricity rate. A 3-hour dinner outside costs well under a dollar, and there are no propane refills to buy.
